How to generate a SHA-256 hash or verify a file checksum

  1. Type or paste text, or switch to File mode and drop any file to checksum.
  2. Optionally enable HMAC mode and enter a secret key.
  3. Compare or copy the resulting SHA-256, SHA-512, SHA-384 and SHA-1 digests.

Hardware-accelerated Web Crypto API

This generator uses window.crypto.subtle.digest, the native cryptographic engine built into modern browsers. Whether you are verifying a downloaded installer’s SHA-256 checksum or debugging an HMAC webhook signature, your secret keys and files stay inside your browser.
