How to use the scientific calculator

  1. Switch to Scientific Mode if you need the extra functions.
  2. Check whether you're in DEG or RAD before doing any trig.
  3. Type or click your calculation and press = or Enter.

More than a basic calculator

A proper calculator in a browser tab, for when your phone's basic one won't do. It has sin, cos and tan (in degrees or radians), log, ln, square roots and powers.

Your keyboard works too. Type the numbers, press Enter for equals, Backspace to delete and Escape to clear. Past results stay in the history, and you can click one to use it again.

Frequently asked questions

sin(90) gave me a weird answer

You're in radians. Switch to DEG and sin(90) will give you 1. That trips up just about everyone at some point.

What's the difference between log and ln?

log is base 10, so log(100) = 2. ln is the natural log (base e), the one that shows up in growth and decay formulas.
